Counseling
In keeping with its philosophy to incorporate an understanding of food and body issues with personal wellness, Be Nourished offers counseling services for adults and teenagers. Below are bios for counselors Hilary Kinavey, Lauren Tracy and Teresa Weis.
We also offer workshops to help our clients continue to process the relationship between physical and emotional wellness and the complex role that food plays in our lives. Find out more about these workshops on our Events page.

Hilary’s Approach
I believe that counseling is an integral tool in healing. Counseling is intended to help people move towards an integrated sense of self, an enhanced understanding of your own inner resources and strengths, and an enhanced sense of self-efficacy.
I work in partnership with clients to develop a deeper understanding of their personal challenges and inner wisdom as well as their personal story. As a counselor, I place an emphasis on developing insight, mindfulness, and empathy for self. My counseling style is warm, casual and down to earth.
I am respectful of each individual’s own process in therapy. I draw upon mindfulness practice in combination with cognitive-behavioral techniques, family systems theory and motivational interviewing. I am trained in EMDR, Phase I & II.
As a therapist, my specialization and interest is in working with:
Food/Weight/Body Image Concerns
Anxiety/Depression
Eating Disorders
Trauma/Post Traumatic Stress
Abuse/Adults Molested As Children
Addictions/Recovery/ACOA
Our Emotional Relationship with Food

With a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy Counseling from Marylhurst University, and a special focus on inspiring self-love and empowerment, she is deeply invested in helping her clients find their own unique creative voice that will be an innate part of their healing.
Lauren's Approach
I believe that both visual and verbal language can be utilized to enhance communication and self-discovery. Engaging in counseling is an opportunity to be witnessed by another as you embark on a personal journey, using your own inner truths as a guide. As your counselor, my role is to help you define those truths, and to provide the necessary tools to help aide you in recovery.
Healthy living involves a deep respect for your mind, body, and spirit. I will meet you exactly where you are and be your partner through an exploration of self-acceptance and emotional expression that ultimately leads to a positive perspective, replacing self-loathing with hope, joy, and a more balanced outlook on life.
My counseling style is authentic, non-judgmental, and spontaneous, allowing for your individual needs to inform what each session looks like. The theory that informs my approach to counseling includes Art as Therapy, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
My experience and interests include working with:
Adolescents and Adults
Children
Anxiety/Depression
Trauma/ Post Traumatic Stress
Eating Disorders
Relationships
Food/Weight/Body Image Concerns
